can you put metal in the microwave? like a spoon in a bowl of soup, or a fork on a plate of food?technically nobut it wont cause any harm if its something as simple as a spoonI saw an episode of mythbusters where they tested several metal objects in the microwave and the only one that made a spark was the balled-up aluminum foilThis is because the electromagentic waves can jump across small distances (crinkles in the foil), therby producing a spark like lightBut most metal objects are completely harmless in the microwave such as spoons, forks, and metal bowlsBut I wouldn\'t try it cuz.you never know.Other related question

When i was younger I saw an experiment on Mr wizards world(My idol, recently passed) where he took aluminum foil, placed it in a pot of I think it was sodium bicarbonate dissolved in hot water on a stoveHe used a tarnished spoon and touched it to the Al foil and the tarnish dissappearedIthink this is how it went but Im not sureIt has been many yearsDoes anyone know or remember???Tarnish Removal from Silver Materials: -a tarnished piece of silver -a pan or dish large enough to completely immerse the silver in -aluminum foil to cover the bottom of the pan (Note, these two materials can be combined by using a disposable aluminum pan) -enough water to fill the pan a kettle to heat the water (and oven mitts if you plan to move the pan) -baking soda, ~ 1 cup (depends on the amount of tarnished silver you have) Procedure: Line the bottom of the pan with aluminum foil (or use your aluminum pan) Set the silver object on top of the aluminum foil, making sure the silver touches the aluminum Heat the water to boiling, and pour it in the pan (be careful not to burn yourself), completely covering the silver Add baking soda (as needed); a good rule of thumb is ¼ cup per 1 liter.(Note, the mixture will froth a bit and may spill over; so you may want to put the pan in a sink – use oven mitts) The tarnish should begin to disappear quickly. You may need to let it sit, reheat the water, and/or add more baking soda if the silver is badly tarnishedOther related question

a recycle drive is planned for oxford elementary school to raise $1750 for playground equipment for their schoolthe following table shows the prices that the county recycling center gives for recyclables.TYPE OF MATERIALPAPER ALUMINUMCARDBOARDPRICE PER CANPAPERALUMINUM $0.05CARDBOARD PRICE PER POUNDPAPER $0.41ALUMINUMCARDBOARD $0.26if the school can raise $1260 in cardboard and cans, about how many pounds of papers would the need to recycleA.900 poundsB.1000 poundsC.1200 poundsD.1500 poundsTarget total: $1750 Amount raised through cardboard and cans: $1260 Therefore the amount needed to be raised from papers is $1750 - $1260 $490Each pound of paper raises 41 cents, so divide the $490 by $0.41 to find how many pounds of papers would be needed to raise the remaining money$490 / $0.41 1195Therefore roughly 1200 pounds of papers would be neededAnswer C.Other related question

I have 2 pork tenderloins, and am looking for a recipe for themit\'s too late to put them in the crock pot, so maybe roasting or somethingI also don\'t have any string to tie them together, so I\'m not sure what to do? They are 2.5 lbs combined. When I bought them, I didn\'t know there was two in a package, and now I\'ve already frozen and defrosted them, and am unsure if I should cook both? Or maybe hope that the one I don\'t cook tonight will stay good until I can cook it this weekend. Thanks!tangy pork tenderloin 1 (1 1/2 pound) fat-trimmed pork tenderloin salt and pepper to taste all-purpose flour for dusting 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 (8 ounce) bottle Russian-style salad dressing 3/4 cup honey 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix Preheat oven to 350 degrees Trim any excess fat from pork and pat dry with a paper towelSeason with salt and pepperDust with flour, shaking off any excessIn a large skillet, heat 1 to 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heatSear the pork in the oil, rotating to brown evenly all sidesTransfer to a baking dish just large enough to fit the tenderloinIn a bowl, stir together the Russian-style salad dressing, honey, and onion soup mixPour evenly over the tenderloin, rolling the meat to coat on all sidesCover with aluminum foilBake, covered, in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, basting with glaze every 10 minutesRemove foil and continue baking another 30 minutes, or until pork is no longer pink in the center.Other related question

I have a septum piercing and I want to make my own eccentric jewelry for itMy local Joe-Anne\'s has aluminum jewelry wire in my gaugeIs this a bad material for a young piercing (6 weeks old) and will it cause irritation?Talk to your piercer on this oneMost people don\'t have much trouble with aluminum, but piercings can be sensitiveIt\'ll also depend on you-some people can wear anything, others can only wear the most nonallergenic metalsPersonally, I wouldn\'t use aluminum (at least for the bit that actually goes through the hole) because it\'s so softI\'d constantly be worrying about it getting bent out of shape.Other related question

I have always wanted to get into photography, but have never been able to take the time to take any classesI know I have a good eye for natural art and I\'m sure I would be great at capturing it, but as far as the technical stuff goes, I am clueless! What are some of the important things to know? ALSO, what basic equipment should I have (I don\'t have thousands of dollars to start so I need something fairly priced, but that will produce quality.)I think I am most interested right now in doing black and white photos, but that can easily change.Advice?Talk to family, friends, experts about photographyRead basic photography booksThen, look into getting a good cameraGenerally a good way to start photography is by starting with an entry-level camera, i found an amazing one right now is the recent Pentax k-x! check it out, it\'s fantastic and really takes top quality picturesIt\'s also cheaper than the other big brand cameras, and has amazing features for such a great price.Other related question

| Voltage Drop to my Pole Barn |

I am adding a 100 Amp Distribution Panel to my Pole Barn that is located about 350 Ft awayI will be burying the cableI would prefer Aluminum as it is cheaperI am told I need to run 4 conductor from my main panel out there and then also have a ground at the pole barnMy question is what size cable should I purchase for direct burial that will leave me at lease 90 amps useable at the distribution panel 350\' away and be compliant with current NEC standards.Take your plans to the electrical permit department of your local building inspectorsWhen you get the plans approved, ask the inspector for the cable size requirements for that runIf they are too busy to supply the answer, then call a qualified professional electrician to do the workThey can calculate the IR drop for that length of run and what size wire you need to do the workYour ditch needs to be at least 3 feet down and certain cover requirements including warning tape are needed Type UF 1/0 aluminum wire is rated for 100 amps and has a resistance of .20 ohms per thousand feetthe data is from the 1993 code book but the physical properties haven\'t changed that much for aluminum or copper over the centuriesI\'ll let you do the calculations yourselfYour computer should have a calculator function built in.Other related question

I got a bagel about 6 hours ago - toasted with jalapeño cream cheese on it - and thought I put it in the fridgeTurns out someone else had put it in the cabinetOur kitchen is like 70-75 degrees fahrenheitWill it still be ok to eat this?the bagel itself is fine but the cream cheese isn\'tthe temperature danger zone is 41 degrees to 135 degrees Fif im not mistaken which means that anything that needs to be refrigerated like dairy products (cream cheese) should only be left out for no more than 4 hours or it cannot go over 41 degrees.Other related question
