Equipment required for purifying copper experiment via electrolysis? The word you are looking for is probably reducing copper, which means to restore tarnished copper by adding electrons to copper ionsCu2+ + 2 e- - Cu You could do this the same way many people restore tasnished silverYou need the following: - Sink or bowl - Aluminum foil - Hot water - Baking soda (NaHCO3) You place the aluminum foil in the sink or bowl, add hot water (boiling is best), and add the baking soda, which acts as the salt bridgeWhen you place the copper in the bowl, the aluminum becomes oxidized and the tarnished copper is reduced back to solid copperTry it! I have demonstrated this in chemistry classes with silver, but have not tried it with copper yet.Other related question

How do you identify wires on a utility pole? How do you know which is an electric, telephone, or cable wire? The wires on the top are the electrical wiresEvery so many poles, you will see them connected to the cylindrical transformers for houses and other buildingsThe telephone wires are usually next, and are usually the biggest, with black insulationThe cablevision cables are usually on the bottom and may have black or grey insulationYou can identify them by the fact that on almost every pole, they go into a small box, usually with short lengths of aluminum tubing, and a cable for each house comes out of that box.Other related question

I usually line it with foil and I know most people use parchment paper but can you use wax paper? THANKS!!!The wax will melt onto the pan and the cookieIT will smell bad and the cookie will taste like a crayonIf you don\'t have parchment paper - use aluminum foilI like the shiny side upDon\'t use frezzer paper either - the plastic coating will melt.Other related question

| how do i determine valence shells and the noof valence electrons of an atom |

for example, lithium.the valency is the nomber of electrons gained , lost or shared by one atom to form a molecule with other atomsmonovalent : exhydrogen atom ( 1H ) the hydrogen atom contains one electron , so it can gain or share by one electron to complete the k level another exchlorine atom (35Cl17) the outermost energy level of chlorine atom contains 7 electrons , so it can gain or share by one electron to complete its outermost energy level to 8 electronsthen we can say monovalent the atom which gain or share by one electron Divalent : exoxygen atom ( 16O8) the outermost energy level of oxygen atom contains 6 electrons , so the atom can gain 2 electrons or share with 2 of it\'s electrons with 2 electrons fo : another oxygen atom to form oxygen molecule O2 two hydrogen atoms to form water molecule H2O.we can say atom which gain or share by 2 electrons is divalent Trivalent : exaluminium atom (27Al13) the outermost energy level of aluminium atom contains 3 electrons that can be lost during the chemical reactionExhydrogen is monovalent and noof valency is 1 (one) magnesium is divalent and noof valency is 2 (two) aluminium is trivalent and noof valency is 3 (three) lithium atomic no 3 , mass no7 , Li is monovalent can gain or share by 1( one ) electron I hope I can help you for best answer/Other related question

y is it, when you put Aluminum Foil (A.F.) in a microwave, it will catch fire/explode, but put it in a Oven and its fine.y is that??The type of energy in an oven and microwave are very differentIn an oven, there is heat transfer to the AF through touching the hot oven rack (conduction), contact with the hot air (convection), and (mostly) infrared radiation from the coils or heating elementA microwave doesn\'t heat things in the same wayIt uses higher energy radiation (microwaves) to excite the water molecules in your foodPutting metal in the microwave excites the electrons, causing sparks.Other related question

| Why when people touch tvs antennas |

When people touch antennas (tv\'s or radios\') they improove their frequency????I mean when we watch tv and then we touch its antenna,we can see more clear this channel.??????Is it because people are quot;chargedquot;????The TV station transmitter sets up tiny electrical currents in your antennaYou TV detects these currents, amplifies them then converts them into sound and picturesThe stronger the currents in your antenna, usually the better the pictureThe amount of current induced on your antenna depends on, among other things, the physical size of the antennaWhen you get get close to the antenna, the size of the antenna changes, which changes the currents, which change the TV pictureIf the picture gets better, then the antenna was not perfect for the channel you are watchingIf antenna were in the perfect size, position, etc., then touching the antenna would only make the picture worseI have seen people use aluminum foil or wire coat hangers to get a better pictureAll these have the same principle.Other related question

I have to do an experiment for my class but do not have tin foil or money to go buy itThis is the procedure:Measure approximately 1/2 teaspoon of water (one gram) and the same mass of aluminum foil (one 1 x 8 inch sheet)In a metal spoon or similarly small container, heat both on the stove for 20 seconds or lessFor example, you may want to heat up the water in one spoon and heat up the foil in another spoon then compareLightly touch each to detect how hot they are.The tin foil would heat up faster because it has a lower specific heat than water.Other related question

Why does copper melt ice faster than stainless steel and aluminum? The thermal conductivity (a property of the substance) is higher for copper than for stainless or aluminumThis means that heat can leave the copper (and enter the ice) more quickly than it can leave the stainless or aluminum.Other related question

( shredded newspaper, sheets of newspaper, bits of cloth, small Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, feathers, aluminum foil, or saw dust ) thanksThe styrofoam peanutsBest packed in aluminium foil bagsThe aluminium will reflect most radiated heat and the styrofoam, by trapping small volumes of air will prevent conduction and convection.Other related question
