There is no doubt that Aluminum in its pure state is a universal metal that is utilized in an array of applications. However, when aluminum is combined with other elements, making what is known as an aluminum alloy, its broad range of applications is extended even further.
Here is some information on the different types and multiple uses of aluminum alloy.

1000 series are essentially pure aluminium with a minimum 99% aluminium content by weight and can be work hardened.
It is the most commonly used series in the current industry. Most of the circulation in the market is the 1050 and 1060 series. The 1000 series aluminum platedetermines the minimum aluminum content of this series according to the last two Arabic numerals. For example, the last two digits of the 1050 series are 50. According to the international trademark nomenclature, the aluminum content must be above 99.5% and it is a qualified product. 2000 series are alloyed with copper, can be precipitation hardened to strengths comparable to steel. Formerly referred to as duralumin, they were once the most common aerospace alloys, but were susceptible to stress corrosion cracking and are increasingly replaced by 7000 series in new designs.
3000 series are alloyed with manganese, and can be work hardened.
4000 series are alloyed with silicon. Variations of Aluminum-silicon alloys intended for casting (and therefore not included in 4000 series) are also known as silumin.
5000 series are alloyed with magnesium, and offer superb corrosion resistance, making them suitable for marine applications. Also, 5083 alloy has the highest strength of not heat-treated alloys.
6000 series are alloyed with magnesium and silicon. They are easy to machine, are weldable, and can be precipitation hardened, but not to the high strengths that 2000 and 7000 can reach. 6061 alloy is one of the most commonly used general-purpose aluminium alloys.
7000 series are alloyed with zinc, and can be precipitation hardened to the highest strengths of any aluminium alloy (ultimate tensile strength up to 700 MPa for the 7068 alloy).

Three series: 3000 series aluminum alloy represents 3003, 3A21 based. China's 3000 series aluminum plate production process is excellent. 3000 series aluminum rod is mainly composed of manganese. The content is between 1.0-1.5, which is a good series of anti-rust function.
Four series: 4000 series aluminum rod stands for 4A01 4000 series aluminum plate belongs to the series with higher silicon content. Usually the silicon content is between 4.5-6.0%. It can also be called aluminum-magnesium alloy. The main features are low density, high tensile strength, high elongation, and good fatigue strength, but they must not be heat-treated. The weight of aluminum-magnesium alloy in the same area is lower than other series. It is also widely used in the conventional industry. In China, the 5000 series aluminum sheet is one of the more mature aluminum sheet series.
Six series: 6000 series aluminum alloy represents 6061 mainly contains two elements of magnesium and silicon, so the advantages of 4000 series and 5000 series are concentrated. 6061 is a cold-processed aluminum forging product, which is suitable for applications with high corrosion resistance and high oxidation resistance. Good usability, easy coating, good processability.
Seven series: 7000 series aluminum alloy represents 7075 mainly contains zinc. Also belongs to the aviation series, is aluminum magnesium-zinc copper alloy, is a heat treatable alloy, is a superhard aluminum alloy, has good wear resistance, but also has good weldability, but poor corrosion resistance.
Eight series: 8000 series aluminum alloy is commonly used for 8011 belongs to other series, most of the application is aluminum foil, aluminum rod production is not commonly used.
Nine series: 9000 series aluminum alloy is a spare alloy. -

Aluminum Alloy Types and Characteristics
Aluminum alloy materials can be classified into wrought alloys such as plates, bars, rods, and wire, and cast/die-cast alloys for sand/mold casting. They all have various characteristics and are designated by four digit JIS numbers*. The alloys are assigned 1000 class numbers and the lower two digits denote the associated information. For example, 99.7% aluminum is A1070 and AL-Mg alloy is A5052.
