| Which Factors Influence Aluminum Profile Price |

Aluminum profile price influenced by many reasons, such as aluminum ingot, manual / processing cost, tech development cost etc.
1. Supply quantity
Aluminum takes up 28%—34% cost in aluminum production. The international aluminum market is highly concentrated, and most of alumina are sold through long-term contracts, thus there is little alumina available for spot market. Take China as an example, before 1997, China didn’t have the long-term contract and the alumina is mainly purchased from the international spot market. In recent years, the industry of electrolytic aluminum is enlarged, which leads to the increasing demand for alumina. Currently, about two-thirds of alumina needs to buy from the spot market. Chinese large purchase of alumina in the international market is directly contributed to the sharp rise of its price. According to statistics, in 2004, China has imported 5.87 million tons of alumina, an increase of 4.8%, compared with the same period of last year. The average import price is 340$ but the cost in lower than 120$. Through simple calculation we can find that China gave the foreign alumina suppliers more than one billion China RMB in 2004. The price of alumina is increasing and leads to the increasing production cost for electrolytic aluminum industry, some companies have faced the economic loss.
2. Demand and supply.
The demand and supply has direct influence on the market. When the demand and supply is in a balanced situation, the price of good may keep a relatively steady level, however, when the demand and supply is unbalanced, the price pf goods will fluctuate seriously. In the market of aluminum, investors may focus on an index that can represent the demand and supply, it is stock. The stock of aluminum has two categories: inventory and non-inventory. The inventory is also called visible inventory, and is a periodical datum from the fair of spot market which indicates the stock of aluminum. The non-inventory is the total amount of aluminum that wholesalers, traders and consumers have in the world. These data don’t have the professional agency to count and publish; it is also called the “invisible inventory”.
3. Electricity price.
The electrolytic aluminum industry needs a large quantity of electricity. Currently, at home and abroad, the average consumption for electricity has been controlled under 15,000 kwh / t for producing aluminum per ton. The Western experience shows that when the cost of electricity takes up 30% in the total cost of aluminum, it will be considered as the dangerous production.
4. Economic situation.
Aluminum has become an important non-ferrous metal, particularly in developed countries and regions; consumption of aluminum has been highly related with economic development. When the economy has a rapid development in a certain country or region, the consumption of aluminum will increase at the same time. Similarly, when the economy is in recession, the consumption of aluminum will decrease, which will causes the fluctuation of its price. In addition, the fluctuated price of some kinds of metal which is related to aluminum, and the change of the industrial policy of different countries will also influence the price of aluminum.
5. Import and export tariffs and international exchange rate.
Generally, people use US dollars to price and settle the aluminum in international trade; the dollar’s trend has an obvious influence on the price of aluminum. The tariffs on aluminum have a particularly distinct impact on China.
6. Technique improving .
The application of computer technology in the electrolytic aluminum industry led to the establishment of related mathematical model and the study of physical field in its process. These make the design of electro bath becomes more reasonable and the increment of its capacity.
7. As a professional aluminum profile manufacturer, China haomei Aluminium focus on provide quality aluminum profile and aluminum extrusions with lower prices and better service (better quality, quick delivery, safety packing, OEM services) for all overseas customers.

| What Metals Can Be Anodized? |

Aluminum is the most commonly anodized material. However, there are several other types of materials that can be anodized. Magnesium can be anodized but its applications are very limited. Titanium is perhaps the second most commonly anodized material, though still nowhere near as popular as aluminum. Some materials simply should not be anodized. Carbon steel will simply corrode if it is brought through an anodizing process.

Anodizing is most commonly used for improved corrosion resistance on certain types of aluminum alloys. Aluminum alloys that are subject to marine environments typically benefit from anodizing. Ship hulls, dock components, and oil rig structures are common examples of these.
Anodizing is also used for abrasion control. Aluminum that has not been oxidized is a relatively soft material when compared with steel or titanium. Aluminum oxide, on the other hand, is an extremely hard material. In fact, aluminum oxide is often used in sandpapers because of its high hardness. When the anodizing process forms an aluminum oxide layer on the outside of an aluminum alloy, it greatly increases its wear resistance because aluminum oxide is such a hard material. Applications where anodizing is used for wear resistance include aluminum components that are subjected to constant movement and contact with other materials.
Dyeing is another popular application of anodized aluminum. The aluminum oxide layer that is created on an aluminum alloy during the anodizing process is porous. This allows some dyes to be absorbed by the oxide layer. Aluminum alloys that couldn’t be dyed before can now be made to be a variety of colors. Applications of dyeing anodized aluminum include artwork and and aluminum signs.

Anodizing aluminum is considered an electrochemical process. It involves taking an aluminum alloy and submerging it in a tank filled with an electrolytic solution. This solution contains acid; the type of acid depends on the application. Once submerged, an electrical current is passed through the aluminum. The aluminum being anodized serves as the anode. A cathode is placed into the tank as well; usually aluminum or lead. The electrical current causes the aluminum to oxidize. The anodizing process leaves a layer of aluminum oxide thicker than what can be achieved through natural oxidation.

Aluminum has an oxide layer that is resistant to corrosion and wear. Pure aluminum does not easily corrode because of this. However, aluminum that contains other alloying elements can be subject to corrosion unless a thick aluminum oxide layer can be made to protect it. In order to prevent the corrosion and abrasion of an aluminum alloy, techniques have been created to create this thick, protective aluminum oxide layer. One way of forming this oxide layer is through a process called anodizing. But what is anodizing?

In many ways, aluminum is the perfect metal. It is strong, light, resistant to heat and corrosion and a good conductor of electricity. On top of that it is plentiful and inexpensive.
Aluminum is also the most abundant metal in the Earth’s crust, and the third most abundant element after oxygen and silicon. However, it was not until 1809 that English chemist Sir Humphry Davy formally identified and named it.
Today, aluminum is the most commonly used metal in the world after iron and steel. Aluminum is a vital component of almost every part of our lives, from the vehicles we drive to the packaging of our food.
Aluminum is at its most versatile when it’s combined with other metals to form aluminum alloys. The alloying process gives aluminum improved properties to suit a range of applications.
How Aluminum Is Made
The first stage in making aluminum is locating the aluminum ore.
Finding the aluminum ore
Aluminum tends to combine with other elements and rarely exists in nature in its pure metallic form. Aluminum compounds are found in most common rock types including clay, slate, shale, granite and anorthosite.
The most important aluminum ore is bauxite, a rock containing about 52% aluminum oxide with impurities of iron oxide, silica, and titania. Bauxite is commonly found in deposits on or close to the Earth’s surface throughout many parts of the world, including Europe, Asia, Australia and South America.
Mining aluminum
Geologists locate bauxite deposits by taking samples and conducting investigatory drilling. When deposits are found, they are mined in open pits. The earth is blasted loose and the bauxite is extracted using power shovels or draglines.
90% of all mined bauxite is made into alumina to be smelted into aluminum. The remaining 10% is used for other purposes including the manufacture of abrasives, furnace linings, and proppants for the oil industry. It takes 4 tons of high-quality bauxite to produce 2 tons of alumina, from which 1 ton of aluminum can be made.
Refining the bauxite
The bauxite is refined using the Bayer process which was first developed by Karl Joseph Bayer in 1888. The Bayer process has four steps: digestion, clarification, precipitation and calcination.
Digestion
The bauxite is ground, mixed with caustic soda and pumped into pressure tanks where steam heat and pressure is applied. This causes the caustic soda to react with the aluminum compounds in the bauxite to form a solution of sodium aluminate. The unwanted impurities are left behind in what is known as red mud.
Clarification
Next, the sodium aluminate solution is passed through blow-off tanks where the pressure is reduced to atmospheric pressure. The red mud is removed with the use of clarifying agents and cloth filters. The clarified solution is then cooled in heat exchangers and pumped into tall silos.
Precipitation
Aluminum hydroxide seed crystals are added to the sodium aluminate solution to cause precipitation. During this process, the aluminum becomes solid. This results in large aluminum crystals which are filtered and washed to remove water and other impurities.
Calcination
Now the aluminum hydroxide crystals are subjected to calcination, a thermal treatment process where the supply of air is controlled. Rotary kilns are used to heat the crystals to temperatures over 960° C which removes any remaining impurities, leaving a fine white powder known as alumina, or aluminum oxide.
Aluminum Smelting
Smelting is the process during which aluminum is extracted from the alumina. This is carried out by the Hall-Héroult process, which was invented in 1886 by Charles Martin Hall and Paul Héroult.
The smelting takes place in steel reduction pots filled with molten electrolyte, where carbon anodes are used to pass an electric current through the electrolyte. Alumina is then added to the molten surface. The electric current deposits molten aluminum which can be collected and siphoned off.
The molten aluminum is then poured into molds to form foundry ingot. At this stage it’s 99.8% pure. Now it can be further refined to produce superpure aluminum or used for alloying with other metals.
Superpure aluminum
Superpure aluminum of high purity (99.99%) is soft and lacks tensile strength. However, it is corrosion-resistant and an excellent conductor of electricity. Superpure aluminum is used in chemical equipment, electronic components, and to make gasoline.
Aluminum alloys
Most aluminum is alloyed with other elements. By alloying the aluminum, its hardness and strength can be significantly improved. Common aluminum alloys are aluminum-manganese (used in beverage containers), aluminum-magnesium (used in appliances and utensils), aluminum-magnesium-silicon (used in buildings and vehicles), and aluminum-copper (used in aircraft).
Recycling aluminum
Aluminum can be endlessly recycled without losing its quality. This makes it one of the most environmentally friendly metals on the planet. Incredibly, most of the aluminum ever produced is still being used today.

Weight
Aluminum is light. Its density is one third that of steel.
Strength
Aluminum is strong. Aluminum alloys have tensile strengths ranging from 70 to 700 MPa. Unlike steel, aluminum does not become brittle at low temperatures. In fact the strength of aluminum increases when cold.
Flexibility
Aluminum’s strength is combined with flexibility, meaning that it can flex under load and bounce back from the force of impacts.
Malleability
Aluminum is extremely malleable, and can be extruded into any desired shape by passing it through a die. Aluminum can be extruded either hot or cold. It can be further manipulated through bending and forming operations.
Conductivity
Aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. An aluminum conductor weighs around half the equivalent copper conductor with the same conductivity.
Reflectivity
Aluminum is a good reflector of both light and heat.
Corrosion resistance
Aluminum reacts with the oxygen in the air to form a microscopically thin layer of oxide. This layer is only 4 nanometres thick but provides excellent protection against corrosion. It even repairs itself if damaged.
