White Macbook or Aluminum Macbook |

Hi I am getting a laptop pretty soon and have pretty much decided on a Mac. But really a white macbook is $1150, and aluminum is $1400. And just so no one says this, the white one is updated with all the same hardware(Advanced graphics, etc.) I want to get it asap so the $250 would mean about 2 months longer which would kind of be a drag. I also understand the aluminum doesn\'t have a firewire port, but idk what the hell that even is so can someone explain what it is and why I would care about it. Basically, is it worth the 2 months and $250 for the aluminum. Thanks. There is no difference between the plastic/aluminum on the inside at all except for the firewire port, and some of the aesthetic differences (the aluminum one just looks cooler in my opinion, the lcd is behind the glass panel, the trackpad is made of glass too, and the battery meter is on the side, not underneath like the white macbook). Firewire is IEEE 1394, it\'s like USB but not used as much except with high-speed external hard drives and digital video cameras (which can be used with video editing software on Macs). It is faster than USB.in case you\'d be utilising it for surfing the internet and doing papers for college the macbook white will be proper for you. The aluminum macbook is an same pc, except aluminum with more advantageous efficient technical specs (more advantageous RAM, swifter processor etc.) this stuff gained\'t make a lot of a large difference in case you only plan to apply be conscious processor and the internet. The aluminum might want to be more advantageous efficient in case you watch extremely some video clips on youtube and such, the aluminum macbooks are not getting as warm as quickly because the plastic ones do. The macbook air is something so that you could only purchase for stylish applications, it has a lot less skill than both the macbook white and the macbook aluminum, for a larger value ticket simply by this is portability. wish this enables! i\'m a contemporary consumer of a 2.4 macbook aluminum btw honestly just go for the white macbook! the aluminum MB is stronger as it\'s a unibody (its made out of a single piece of aluminum( the but it has a load of set backs, and in the long run it could be more costly, because lets say you break or a lose a key on your keyboard, you have to replace the whole keyboard instead of just a single key. if your hard drive ever breaks down, it\'ll cost a crapp load to replace as you have to send your MB to apple to have them repair it (my friend paid like $800 to get it replaced). also you can\'t remove your battery (if it dies) and you have to have it replaced by apple once again($1000) (unless you want to do it yourself and void the warrenty). It\'s more costly on the aluminum to upgrade hardware (RAM, Hard Drive etc..). but on the otherhand the aluminum looks shinier , and the screen is lit with LEDs. but aswell alot of the amlunium macbooks have problems with them like faulty nvidia graphics card, and they produce alot of heat! as for the firewire port, you kind of want that because you\'ll eventually buy something which will use the firewire port. it\'s just like a usb port except it\'s faster. alot of external hard drives and other storage devices, video camera\'s, hd camera\'s, some hd webcams, some musical instruments (e.g pluggin a guitar into your macbook through an external sound card.) and aswell since the white macbook is fully upgraded and has the same specs as the aluminium why not go for it? and aswell its cheaper to upgrade your RAM/Hard drive on the white MB. and you wont have to wait 2 monthsI\'ve been researching this same thing. what I\'ve learned is the new one pice aluminum body model is much stronger and built with a fall censer to protect the hard drive if the unit should be dropped. The screen is also lit by LED which is brighter and lasts longer than conventional screens. Save the extra $250 for it, you wont regret it. Check out the link, it clearly defines why ALUMINUM IS BETTER.Other related question

I have a specific design I\'d like to cut out of thin sheet metal (aluminum or tin) and I\'m wondering how to make it more sturdy. The sheet metal is a bit flimsy. Can I strengthen it by heating it up (butane torch) and cooling it quickly? No. In fact, aluminum (and I believe tin) work harden when hammered - as do brass and copper and you heat to anneal and then you can cool fast or slow, still soft. Tin has a very low melting point and hitting it with a torch, especially if thin, will probably put a hole in it. The chances of you actually having tin sheet metal are very low - tin cans are zinc plated steel or some other coating. Steel does harden when quench, but heating tin or zinc coated metal is likely to damage the coating and perhaps give off noxious fumes - especially zinc. This Site Might Help You. A 0.2412 gram sample of aluminum ore was dissolved in a dilute mineral acid. The solution was treated with an excess of sodium oxalate. The resultant aluminum oxalate precipitate was filtered, washed and redissolved in mineral acid, then titrated with 42.12 mL of 0.1098 N KMnO4. Calculate the percent of aluminum in the sample.4Al + 6Na2(C2O4) ---- 2Al2(C2O4)3 + 6KMnO4 ---- 3K2(C2O4) Aluminum oxalate and potassium permanganate are at a 1:3 ratio.... Moles of KMnO4 C = 0.1098 mol/L v = 42.12 ml = 0.04212 L C = n/v n= CV = 0.004624776 mols Therefore moles of aluminum oxylate = 0.001541592 mol = moles of aluminum m= 26.98 g/mol * moles mass of aluminum in oxylate = 0.04159215 g % of initial sample = mass of aluminum / mass of ore = 17.24% aluminum in ore sample Perhaps check my math but the method is for sure correct.determine which you do catch the Hydrogen gas in a balloon. combination Lye with water in a pitcher bottle (Coke liter bottle is huge). drop in Aluminum foil (do no longer give way) and cap off with a balloon. The balloon will fill with hydrogen. do away with the balloon, pinching the backside keeping the hydrogen; shop including Aluminum foil strips and place the balloon lower back over the precise till at last the balloon is of a sturdy length. Tie the balloon off, tape a fuse (some thing that burns slow) to the balloon, permit it bypass up interior the air. whilst the hearth its the balloon, it pops and the hydrogen + oxygen (interior the air) + spark reasons a small flash (hydrogen explosion). Do it at night for a extra advantageous view.errgwetOther related question

Will copper and an aluminum solution react BEST ANSWER POINTS |

Would a chemical reaction happen between a piece of copper and a liquid solution containing a compound of aluminum? Why or why not? FIRST BEST ANSWER GETS POINTS!No. Copper metal will not reduce aluminum ions to aluminum metal. We can observe that copper is below aluminum in the activity series, which indicates that the Cu + Al3+ reaction is nonspontaneous. The other way round will work, sort-of. Aluminum metal will reduce copper ions. But it takes freshly prepared aluminum metal. Aluminum metal passivates, that is, it reacts with oxygen to form an Al2O3 layer on the surface of the metal. The presence of chloride ion will help provide a clean Al surface.Figure out the Eknots using a chart. Cu -- Cu2+ = Enot of ? Al3+ --- Al = Enot of ? It needs to be positive to spontaneously react. I believe from memory that Al -- Al3+ is 1.3volts, so the reverse is negative. Meanwhile Cu is something under .5 volts, so it won\'t be enough to make the reaction work. This is further understood because aluminum requires a lot of energy to smelt from the oxide (which is the reverse reaction of Al3+ -- Al that you\'re talking about here) Secondly, do your homework man, it\'s REALLY obnoxious to add the why or why not and phrase everything exactly as your homework asks. Try to ask a question about the topic so you actually learn. For example, what are reduction potentials in terms of, for example, Cu --- Cu2+Since Al is more reactive than Cu, no reaction would occur. A reaction would occur only if you had a piece of Al and a solution containing Cu2+ ions. The more active metal replaces the other metal in solution and the less active metal plates out. Please don\'t ask diffuse questions. If you mean a solution of aluminum ions Al+3, then no: Al3+ + 3e− ⇄ Al(s) -1.66 Cu2+ + 2e− ⇄ Cu(s) +0.340 Cu+ + e− ⇄ Cu(s) +0.520 If you mean a solution of some unspecified Al compound then maybe, but there\'s no way to know until you specify the compound. No they are both positively charged. Cu is +1 or +2 and Al is +3.Other related question

Whats better aluminum or fiberglass poles |

I\'m wanting to buy colorguard poles, and I found some good deals on aluminum and fiberglass ones. But what are the pros and cons of each one?I\'d say fiberglass because... - Durability - Aluminum is a very bendable metal. It dents, it bends, and it breaks easier than any other metal pole you\'ll find. This is because it\'s a very low density metal. - Flexibility = more dramatic twirling due to pole flex, and it\'s less breakable. - Counter Weight = A flag on one side of the pole would be harder to move around swiftly without a counterweight. Thus a heavier pole would entail having a center of gravity on the flag pole closer to the hand, making it easier to maneuver the flag, but the pole would be harder to lift as a whole. I\'m no expert on colorguard poles, though. Fiberglass has come a long way. While aluminum is always the same material, fiberglass is a constantly evolving building material.Other related question

Which statement describes a chemical property of aluminum |

(1) Aluminum is malleable. (2) Aluminum reacts with sulfuric acid.(3) Aluminum conducts an electric current.(4)Aluminum has a density of 2.698 g/cm3 at STP.Explain why.The answer is choice 2. Why? It\'s the only one that describes a chemical interaction. The other three describe physical properties of aluminum, that is properties that do not involve a change in the chemical identity of aluminum metal. In choices 1, 3, and 4, the aluminum metal remains as aluminum metal. However, in choice 2, the metal reacts and becomes aluminum ion.The answer is statement 2 Reasons why: First, know that a chemical property of any element is something that results in the change of the chemical make-up of the element. The word for word definition in my textbook says: a chemical property is the ability of a substance to combine with or change into one or more substances through a change in the chemical formula for the substance Looking at all the other options: Statement 1: Whether or not a substance is malleable is whether or not a substance can be hammered or pressed out of shape and not break or shatter. Hammering a substance, or in this case Aluminum, does not change any chemical formula of Aluminum, it just changes the physical shape of the metal. Statement 3: If a substance is conductive of electricity, it means that the material can transport an electric current. This is not chemical because the electricity simply goes through the substance, it does not change or react with any of the atoms of a substance and change the chemical formula. Statement 4: Density is a purely physical property because it is how dense a material is, and it doesn\'t change the formula of a substance. Therefore, Statement 2 is the best answer because by reacting with sulfuric acid, the chemical formula of aluminum changes since the atoms recombine with the atoms of sulfuric acid and create a new substance and a new chemical formula with it.statement 2 because it describes the nature of a reaction involving aluminium. The reaction is governed by its chemical properties such as the number of electrons is contains and its ability to for ions.oxygen supports combustion is the chemical oneOther related question

I got nauseous the other day and that day one thing I ate was hamburger baked for 1 hour on aluminum foil with tomatoes mixed in. Is it possible the upset stomach was caused by the tomatoes reacting with the foil?Aluminium foil is manufactured to be of \'food grade\' (i.e. safe to be used around food). It heats and insulates. It would never react with the food contained on/in it. Unless you\'re boiling your tomatoes in Sulphuric Acid of course! :-PI got sick from fried chicken that had been laying in foil all afternoon. It had a foil taste. yuk. I have baked macaroni and cheese before and covered it with foil, then the foil would start disintegrating. Not sure why that happened, but ewww.Pie:- Shepherd’s 500g (1lb) Minced Lamb.(purple meat will do) a million great onion. 2 purple meat cubes. a million ½ C Water. ½ C Frozen peas. ½ C Diced carrot. 2T Cornflour. 4C Potato. (mashed) ½ C Grated cheese. Season to flavor. Chop onion and brown gently, upload mince and brown. disintegrate in the inventory cubes, upload 1C of water, carrots and peas. Simmer for 10 minutes Thicken with cornflour mixed with ½ cup water and prepare dinner for a jiffy. opened up in a pie or baking dish and canopy with mashed potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and bake at 190C (375F) for 20 minutes till the potato has browned and the cheese has melted. If made with purple meat it would be referred to as Cottage Pie.no that wouldn\'t make you sick. i line all my pans with foil before baking because it makes it much easier to clean the pans. You can use it in microwaveOther related question

Aluminum or Steel Frame for Touring |

I am ultimately looking to have a bike that is good for both everday commuting and touring with panniers/racks long distance with camping. From what I\'ve read on the internet steel frames are more forgiving and ride smoother. The guy at my local bike shop tells me aluminum frames have more flex and ride better. I don\'t know if he\'s just trying to make a sale (Giant dealer) or to trust him, unfortunately the staff there are all just racers not tourers. If you can recommend any brands/models to check out that\'d be good. From my research thus far I am in love with Co Motion bikes, just not the price! I\'m looking at $1000 max for a good touring bike. Thanks!I\'ve been on an aluminum frame (Trek 1220) for about 16,000 miles and I find it somewhat unforgiving. I test drove, after buying my bike, a steel frame and I thought it was more comfortable. The thing about the aluminum frame is that it corners GREAT due to its rigidity. Find a bike shop that will let you take a tester for about a 1/2 hour and take the bike for a test drive on a somewhat irregular road. You\'re investing a lot so, you should test drive. The two previous bikes lack brazeons for rack mounts up front, so they don\'t seem suitable for heavy, loaded touring expeditions. But, I don\'t see any models by Giant that have front rack brazeons. Actually, their forks all appear to be carbon/composite. I agree that the Co-Motion products look great, but their prices do seem a bit high for a welded frame, even if it is made in the US. The Surly LHT would make an extremely rugged, steel tourer. But building it up to your desired specs would likely put you way over your limit.Surly LHT Surly Cross Check - suitable for lighter touring Soma Saga Salsa Fargo - heavy duty rig Salsa Casseroll - for light touring Kona Sutra - another mtb-based tourer Bob Jackson World Tour Nothing is as cheap as the nashbar alum frame. No reason to completely rule out aluminum options, though. Steel offers a nice ride, but frames made with nicer steel tubes are probably out of your price range. Aluminim can be plenty strong, especially if it\'s a hybrid-type frame. For example, Trek\'s 7.3 would be a fine platform for building a touring bike, yet the frame is aluminum...but plenty strong...and the quality of the frame will exceed an LHT. If you\'ve got to have steel and don\'t have much funds available, even for a $450 frameset, consider sourcing an older (late-80s to mid-90s) rigid mtb. These had longer chainstays and wheelbases than modern mountain bikes, and the tubing and construction was naturally durable. Yeah, I see your point #2, but if wishes were horses...I\'ve owned a few different bikes-- Aluminum (light but very stiff), steel (slightly heavier but far more comfortable) and Carbon Fiber (high end racing bike, extremely comfortable ride and very light). For touring and commuting I don\'t use the racing bike-- steel all the way. Plus, you can find great steel frames that are built for touring (surly has some great frames that I love) with attachments for all of the add-ons you\'d want. At the point where you are touring you are carrying so much extra weight (panniers, bags, spare parts, etc) that an extra 5 pounds of frame weight is negligible.looks like the Americano series are equipped with tandem wheelset. That\'s heavy duty touring. I believe he is trying to make a sale. If aluminum flexes, then the result will be a crack. If steel decide to fail, it bends from fatigue, aluminum just snaps when it fails. Steel gives you a much noticeable warning. So...steel bends. It flexes when you put a lot of stress, but when you are touring, it\'s not likely your going to go all out like racers do when they pursue. Steel will absorb more of the road vibrations and shock. You might want to try a different shop if all they do is pitch Giant brand. BTW Giant is THE world largest bicycle manufacturer. They build bikes for different companies besides their own. So you never know where or what brand your really riding. There are many touring bikes out, but if you go by manufacturers then it is only limited to a few by brands. There is more options when you want a racer. Remember when choosing a touring bike to choose one with a good wheelset. I like wheels with 36 spokes or more, they take the brunt of the weight (rack, pannier, other accessories).Other related question

Physics question Buoyancy of aluminum vs lead |

a 1 kg block of aluminum and a 1 kg block of lead are immersed in water, Both sink, but which experienced the greater buoyant force? Why?1 kg of Aluminum will require more volume to occupy since it is lighter than lead. Lead has more density to Aluminum. So, when immersed in water Aluminum will displace more volume of water than lead. The buoyant force is equal to the Mass of water thus dispalced . Thus we can say Aluminum will experience more buoyant force.Buoyant force = weight of water displaced The thing that affects the weight displaced is the volume of the metal blocks. Both Aluminum and Lead have the same mass (1kg) but Lead is more dense than Aluminum (11.34g/cm^3 vs 2.70g/cm^3). As such, the 1kg of Aluminum has a greater volume than Lead and hence experienced the greater buoyant force.Other related question

Trying to find the best aluminum powder I can buy for rocket engines and pyrotechnic (fireworks) uses? For okorder.com (I think there prices are the same as the other high end brands, except Star Molecule is not diluted, and it works better from my experience). It really depends on your formula and how the aluminum is being used in the formula. Is it a part of the fuel or is an additive to the fuel for sparks?Other related question
