Electrical smell in basement

We had our basement finished about 2 years agoToday there is a really strong odor down there, I think it may be a burnt wire smell, but I\'m not exactly sureIt almost smells kinda chemicallyAnyway, we have dome lights on the ceiling down there, each with 2 bulbsThey should be 60 Watts each, however we found a 100 watt bulb in one today and the coating on the wires around it were all burntIt\'s been a few hours since we changed all of the bulbs, but the smell is still very strongAnyone have an idea of what it could be?Also, our light fixtures have a sheet of what looks like aluminum foil that is supposed to lie flat against the top of the fixtureIt has holes cut out where all the wires need to go throughDoes anyone know why this is in there and if it may be removed?Thank you!!!The foil sheet is a heat barrier and needs to stay where it isThe 100 watt bulbs have probably fried the insulation on the wires in the fixturesYou should rewire or replace the fixtures is the insulation seems brittle or looks burntThe reason for the 60 watt maximum is because of heat more than loadThe added heat from the 100 watt bulbs probably cooked the wiring.Other related question

how many ELECTRONS ARE UNPAIRED IN THE OUTERMOST SHELL OF ALUMINUM (Al, ATOMIC NUMBER 13)?the respond is b) 3the 1st electron shell can basically carry 2 electrons: 2e) the 2nd shell can basically carry 8so if akuminum has 13 electrons: 2e) 8e) because of the fact the 1st shell holds 2 and 11 greater electrons are needed to get a finished of 13 electrons you should function greater shellsthe 2nd shell can basically postpone to eight however so which you like one greater shell to incorporate the extra 3 electrons: 2e) 8e) 3e) because of the fact the shell protecting 3 electrons is the outer shell, above the different shell(s) then 7 electrons are got here upon in the outermost shell of this factor.Other related question

if an aluminum nucleus is scaled to be 1 cm, how far away are the outer electrons?the real radius of nucleus(Al) r0 cubic-root(Atomic mass) 1.25 10^-15 3 3.75 10^-15 m the covalent radius 118 pico m or 118 10^-12 m covalent r / nucleus radius 31.5 10^3 the outer electrons would be at approx315 metersCheck my calculations!Other related question

I have a frozen water bottle and a room temperature bottle wrapped with aluminum foil placed in a polyethylene bag placed in a styrofoam coolerHow would I calculate the temperature of the room temperature bottled water after 30 minutes if I knew the thermal cond, of all the materials, the temperature etcPLEASE HELP ME APPROACH THIS PROBLEM THANKS!The real problem is deciding the quantities of heat transferred by conduction convection and radiationWhat shape are the bottles, circular cross section will have very small contact area for direct conductionSimilarly Al foil although a good conductor is transmitting heat along rather than across its thicknessConvection can be largely ignored as the wrappings tend to stop thatThis leaves radiation potentially as the main heat transfer.Other related question

DHS does NOT buy ammo for the militaryMost of what they have bought are hollow points that the military are forbidden from using according to the Geneva conventionThe purchase was a MAXIMUM of 450 million rounds, not 1.2 billion, and it\'s not paid for all nowIt\'s for all branches of DHS, plus immigration, plus border security, PLUS all their training and target practice which can be thousands of rounds a yearHollow point bullets are perfectly normal bullets used by police everywhere - they aren\'t aluminum coated bullets like you guys are mistaking them for.Other related question

What kind of recycling makes the most sense The least sense

I have heard that not all recycling is goodSometimes it takes more energy to recycle something than it does to create the product from scratchSo here\'s my questionWhat things make the most sense to recycle? And what makes the least sense? For example, perhaps it makes sense to recycle aluminum cans, but not newspapersOr whateverIs there anything that ALWAYS pays to recycle? And maybe some things that it NEVER makes sense to recycle? The order of most sense to least goes- reduce, reuse, recycleIt makes the least sense to recycle when an item can be reduced or reusedFor example, it makes less sense to recycle the chromium on car parts than to make cars without all that chrome in the first placeReusable shopping bags make more sense than recycling single use paper or plasticSome things make no sense to recycle such as aluminized mylar which is used to make things like juice containersThe metal and plastic are too much of a problem to handle and separate but aluminized mylar makes good ecological sense because it reduces the amount of glass or aluminum normally used to package drinksRecycling is not always the best option and the list of most sense to least isreduce, reuse, recycle.Other related question

How do you cook cupcakes without a pan or wrapper

I don\'t have a cupcake pan or cupcake wrappers, and I can\'t go to the store and buy anythingI do have a pan thats not flat and has circular indents about 2-3 inches wide and a 1/4 inch deepThe last time I put dough in it, I got what looked like fat cookiesIf I use aluminum foil to make a cup, will it be safe to put in the oven and hold the batter? The pan you have is a Madeline pan, for making Madelines which are a type of cake-type cookieWell, old school pioneers used to use their cups to bake inYes, their coffee/tea cupsObviously not the fine china, but their everyday cupsBe sure the cups you use can actually withstand the temperature of the ovenOtherwise they\'ll shatter, which will make a mess in your ovenAlso be sure you thoroughly grease the inside of the cup or else the cake won\'t come outI don\'t think the tinfoil thing will workIt won\'t be strong enough to hold its shape and will also be very difficult to get the cakes out in one pieceSo barring the cup idea, just go get a muffin-pan and liners from your local storeYou can use a muffin pan for all sorts of things besides cupcakes or muffins you knowThey\'re great for making mini-meat loaf or giant meat balls (same difference.)Other related question

what home insurance company insures homes with knob and tube wiring

I am looking to purchase homeowners insurance on my homeIt has knob and tube wiring and a circuit breakerI was told that the knob and tube is a more recent version or wiring and not as bad as the older kindI am having difficulty finding an insurance company with reasonable rates, under $600.00.The home is valued at $90,000.The ONLY one I know of, is Foremost Insurance - and you\'re NOT going to be charged the same rates as a house with updated wiring I\'d suggest you make the wiring upgrade part of the sales deal, and make the old owner pay for it Keep in mind, knob tube wiring is 1950\'sAluminum wiring came after THAT - so the WIRING in your house, is pushing 70 years old - which means it CANNOT safely handle current household electrical draws There\'s not much older than knob and tube style Your idea of reasonable is what has to get adjusted - it\'s not reasonable for a house with 70 year old wiring, to be insurable at $90,000 for under $600Or $800 either, probably.Other related question
