You should wear a mask when sanding anything. If your getting large amounts of dust near your face wearing goggles is a good idea.When working with aluminum, wear leather gloves to protect your hands, goggles to protect your eye and a dust mask to protect your lungs. Aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer\'s and other neurological conditions.Aluminum it\'s self is not dangerous. But as for as cuts, Any cut can become infected from germs from any source.I dont think its really dangerous but I also dont think its healthy you should try using dust mask when you do that kind of sanding..Other related question
