In last article we talked about two ways to avoid machining distortion of
aluminum plate products, which are decreasing internal stress of the work-blank and choosing right cutting tools. In fact, there are still two process measures remaining unmentioned.
aluminum plate
The first is to improve clamping ways of aluminum plate products. Generally speaking, for thin bushing pieces it’s better to clamp the end face with an axle of good strength than to clamp the radial direction with a collet chuck, for the latter would certainly lead to distortion of the pieces. For thin
aluminum plate or sheet products, vacuum pad serves to be a good tool to clamp the products with even force. In addition, workers can fill materials into manufactured products to reduce distortion from clamping and cutting. For example, products can be filled with urea fusant which can be removed by putting finished products into water or alcohol. The second way is by arranging working procedures in a more reasonable way. In cutting process of high speed, vibration influences processing precision and surface roughness. Workers can have two times of semi-finishing treatment for pieces of high precision requirement. After rough machining, the piece gets cool naturally, reliving internal force gradually in the process. The allowance should be bigger than the force of distortion. In finishing cutting tools should be kept in a steady state so that distortion of
aluminum plate products can be greatly reduced.
