How much is the 6061
aluminum plate thickness tolerance? The tolerance is not a stable number. It’s up to the width and thickness of a 6061 aluminum pate. Here we share two types of classification methods of the tolerance of 6061
aluminum plate thickness.

By Thickness and Width

According to standards in GB/T 3880.3-2006, the thickness tolerance for a 2mm thick plate is as below.

Width between 400mm and 600mm: 0.15mm

Width between 600mm and 800mm: 0.20mm

Width between 800mm and 1000mm: 0.20mm

Width between 1000mm and 1220mm: 0.24mm

For a 2.5mm thick 6061
aluminum plate, the tolerance is between 0.10mm and 0.12mm, and for a 3.0mm thick one, the number ranges from 0.0025 to 3.0mm.

By Type and Width

According to GB/T 3880.1-2012, all
aluminium alloy plates are divided into two types: A and B, based on content rate of Mn and Mg. And 6061 aluminium is a member of B type. In accordance with standards here, the relationship between the 6061
aluminum plate thickness tolerance and a plate’s width is as below.

Width below 1000mm: thickness tolerance 0.15mm

Width 1000-1600mm: thickness tolerance 0.18mm

Width 1600-2000mm: thickness tolerance 0.23mm

Width 2000-2500mm: thickness tolerance 0.19mm

Width 2500mm and above: thickness tolerance 0.19mm
