Are aluminum foils dangerous to health? - Keganhirl - 12-02-2021 No. Aluminium foil is completely safe for most purposes and in many circumstances a better choice than cling film. I would always choose aluminium foil over cling film to wrap fatty foods. [Edit] Aluminium foil can react with very acidic foods and citrus fruits and milk products should not come into contact with aluminium foil. [End edit] In fact, I think the main place where cling film is a better choice is where it's the only choice, as a wrapping material in the microwave. We consume 3–5 mg of aluminum daily in our diet and some products like antacids purposely contain aluminum, albeit not the metal. Most ingested aluminum is excreted in feces and never enters the bloodstream, the rest is excreted as urine in healthy people. A trace amount of aluminum is retained in the body. Aluminum (in ingested forms) is not implicated in cancer risk, but is correlated in neurological issues such as Alzheimer's disease — although its accumulation may be secondary to the disease and not causal |
