How is Aluminium ingot made? - lolitahe69 - 11-26-2021

Aluminum ingots is non-ferrous product that is produced by pouring molten aluminum into special molds. These molds come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and the ingots created by this variety have different types in appearance. Today, aluminum is the second most widely used metal in the world after iron. The widespread use of this metal in various industries has led to special attention to its identification and extraction from existing mines in the country.

Ingot and billet are cast from molten aluminum. In the cast house, crucibles of molten aluminum empty their silvery liquid either directly into molds or into a holding furnace where the metal is kept molten at temperatures between 1200- and 1500-degrees Fahrenheit. Alloying elements are then added.

The process of casting aluminum ingots takes place through majorly two routes - either from alumina through primary aluminum or through the fusion and refining of aluminum scrap. Ingots obtained through the first type of process are called primary ingots and the second type is called secondary ingots. Depending on the purity of ingots, they can also be pure or alloy ingots
