Why is my cat scared of aluminium foil? - aadaasdark8072 - 09-25-2018 Cats hate being surprised by loud unexpected sounds, and the tearing off of aluminum foil is high on the “hate” list. The cat figures if you are even handling the foil, that terrible sound is about to happen without ntoice. Some time in the past, your cat has been horribly startled by the sound. When I trained my most recently adopted cat (I only own one at a time), I taught him a new cokmand I’d never tried on earlier cats. I use the words”watch out!” in a tense tone, along with athe animal’s name before turning on the vacuum, tearing foil, or if the toaster is going to pop up. The cat learns that something he doesn’t like, especially a loud sound that would normally scare the pants off him (because it can’t be predicted) is about to happen. My cat is far more relaxed and does pay attention to what happens next, but never freaks out like past cats did. As far as you cat is concerend, aluminum foil makes horrible sounds at any time of day or night when someone holds it. If the cat is warned in advance, they are much calmer and happier pets. RE: Why is my cat scared of aluminium foil? - ohapuqa - 09-25-2018 I agree with Jürgen that it may be the sound of aluminum foil that scares your cat. One of my cats is terrified of the sound plastic shopping bags make when you shake them or crinkle them. All cats have weird quirks like this - embrace it as part of what makes your cat unique! |
