Which is more ductile between copper, aluminium and mild steel? - aluminiumsheet - 03-23-2018 Mild Steel, Copper, Aluminum. ductility measures the length of deformation without reaching failure (break). steel can be elongated greatly, though aluminum cannot. There are alloys that are more ductile than these and generally, steel is an alloy and not a pure metal like copper and aluminum. The chemical element chart has Aluminum element 13, and copper as element 29. The structure of Cu has more valence portals available to create bonds, therefore it can interstitially relocate bonding charges. Aluminum forms Al-O2 readily, and becomes brittle quickly with deformation. However, pure aluminum can be threshed to a thinner bonding precipice. RE: Which is more ductile between copper, aluminium and mild steel? - haomeialu - 03-23-2018 There is no comparison possible among Cu, Al & mild steel. However, Cu & Al are both FCC metals & hence both have good ductility, but Cuscores over Al. Mild steel is strong compared to either Cu or Al , but can not give as much ductility as one can get in Cu & Al. Cu, Al & mild steel - can be listed in the descending order of ductility. Hari om. |
