Boat aluminium 5083 is a member of Al-Mg series, boasting precise process among 5000 series. The alloy tempers incorporate O, HXX and HXXX. 5083 plates of different alloys are used frequently in varied industries, like marine building, vehicle tanks, automobile parts, welded parts of aircraft plates, pressure vessels requiring strict fire protection, refrigeration devices, TV towers, drilling equipment, transportation equipment, armor, etc.

In boat building 5083 aluminium plate serves as raw materials for the hull, operating platforms, decks and other parts, among which the most important one is the underwater part of the hull in the perennial contact with seawater. The hull must be able to resist the corrosion of seawater and be durable for a long time. The 5083H116 aluminum plate and 5083H321 aluminum plate are the most commonly used in this part of the product. Although these two types of plates differ from others only in temperature of production, they show much better corrosion resistance and are more suitable for the underwater environment of the ocean than H111 and H112.

High-quality 5083-H112 aluminum plate is a representative product of aluminum alloy with moderate strength, corrosion resistance and welding performance. The plate is easy to form and about 20% harder than 5052. The anti-rust aluminum plate can not be strengthened by heat treatment. It has low strength and high plasticity. At present, most shipbuilding enterprises still prefer 5083H116 and 5083H321.
