Is apple's aluminium wired keyboard fixable?

Hello,
Apologies if this shouldn't be here because it isn't really OS related, but seemed appropriate....
Short Version: My wired keyboard from a 2009 iMac stopped working on the iMac and 2011 MacBook Pro. The USB ports work fine - tested with a mouse - but no key presses are recognized by the computer. Is this at all worth looking at fixing or do I just buy a replacement? I love the chic-let style keyboard so getting something different isn't an option.
Longer: I started the 10.7.4 update this morning, let it go into the restart mode and left for work. Came home, logged in, and did a few things, updated Safari, started music in iTunes and walked away. A few songs later, the music randomly started skipping, then stopped and iTunes beachballed. I command-tabbed to chrome, opened a new tab and started typing - no text in the address bar and Chrome beachballed. Basically everything froze up and I had to power-button shut down the computer. After I restarted, the keyboard didn't work at all on either machine - again the mouse through USB did. I got my keyboard from my office - same thing, just newer - and that works fine and the iMac seems fine now. It was really weird over all.
Please help
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
