How to Polish Brushed Aluminum

Brushed aluminum is used in a a variety of household appliances, including faucets, knobs and accents on a refrigerator, oven/stove and fireplace. Brushed aluminum is also used as an accent in car and truck detailing. To keep your brushed aluminum looking clean and shiny at all times, the aluminum needs to be polished.
Step 1
Wipe down the brushed aluminum using a lint-free soft cloth. This will help remove any dust, dirt or grit sitting on the surface.
Step 2
Pour 1/2 cup of vinegar into a large bucket. Add 1/2 quart of water to dilute the vinegar. Swish the contents around to thoroughly combine the vinegar and water.
Step 3
Dip a clean cloth into the bucket and wipe down the brushed aluminum.
Step 4
Squeeze 1/2 cup of lemon juice into a small bowl. Add 1/4 cup of baking soda to the lemon juice to make a paste. Use a clean cloth to apply the paste to the brushed aluminum. This will remove any tough stains without damaging or discoloring the aluminum.
Step 5
Wet a wash cloth to wipe the paste off of the brushed aluminum.
Step 6
Spray an all-purpose household cleaner onto the brushed aluminum. Dry the cleaner off with the lint-free soft cloth. This will bring luster back to the brushed aluminum.
