Aluminium windows with thermal break profiles are the future

With rising energy prices in mind, everyone is striving for optimal insulation of their home. Most people immediately think of roof and wall insulation and double or even triple glazing, whereas window profiles are often overlooked. Incorrectly, because your double or triple glazing may only really yield a profit if the frame is properly insulated, which is the case with aluminium thermal break profiles.
“Pleasant!” That's the answer many people give to the question: "How do you want the temperature to be in your house all year round?" This means: pleasantly warm in winter when it’s freezing cold outside and pleasantly cool in summer even when temperatures outside rise to 30°C and more. To achieve that goal, the right choice of your windows - both the glazing and the profiles - is very important.
Aluminium: many advantages
Window profiles come in all sizes and colours and also in different materials. Wood, PVC and aluminium have been the most widely used for decades. Aluminium has many advantages: it’s rust resistant, resistant to chemicals, it requires little maintenance, it's strong and thus non-deformable and it’s resistant to break-ins. It can also be supplied in almost any colour, it has a long service life, it ensures good acoustic insulation and can be completely recycled.
Until a few decades ago, aluminium had one major disadvantage over wood and PVC: the limited thermal insulation. It has too high a Uf value (= a measure of the amount of heat that passes through a window profile). With standard aluminium profiles, it may be that there is condensation in your home, or mould. This not only gives rise to high repair costs but is also a major cause of respiratory problems such as asthma.
Polyamide strips
That disadvantage has now been completely eliminated. More so, thanks to the development of so-called thermal break profiles, aluminium is at least as good as its competitors. With these profiles, produced with specialized machines such as the Aluroller EVO, a polyamide strip is placed between the inner and outer sections of the profile.
Polyamide is a plastic that insulates more than 500 times better than aluminium, so thermal break profiles have a much lower Uf value. Thus much less heat is transmitted. In winter, it’s kept indoors and in summer the heat is kept o
