5052
aluminium plate used for aircraft fuel tanks, storm shutters, refrigerator liners and panels, etc.
The 5052
aluminum alloy has high resistance when placed in conditions that are slightly alkaline. It has better marine resistance than 5005 alloys, which is why it’s frequently used for marine applications. The corrosion resistance of 5052 alloys comes from the protective surface oxide film it has. This has a rapid reaction that occurs when damage is sustained. This reaction is between oxygen and aluminum. However, when repair isn’t possible, the base metal can sustain rapid corrosion. It’s not recommended that this alloy be used with reducing media. To help make the protective film thicker, the alloy can be anodized.
5052 is the highest strength alloy of the more common non heat-treatable grades. Fatigue strength is higher than most
aluminum alloys. In addition, this grade has particularly good resistance to marine atmosphere and salt water corrosion. It has excellent workability. It may be drawn or formed into intricate shapes and its slightly greater strength in the annealed condition minimizes tearing that occurs in 1100 and 3003.
The applications of 5052
aluminum plate: Used in a wide variety of applications from aircraft.
6061 is typically selected where welding or brazing is required or for its high corrosion resistance in all tempers. It has exceptional joining characteristics, good acceptance to anodizing and is easily cold worked and formed in the annealed condition.
6061
aluminum sheet plate cut to size is a harder, more machinable aluminum. It is the workhorse of heat-treat alloys. Uses include the production of sailboats, canoes, truck and bus bodies, scaffolding, transmission towers, mine skips, furniture, chemical and marine equipment, and hardware.
General 7075 alloy
aluminum plate sheet characteristics and uses (from Alcoa): Very high strength material used for highly stressed structural parts. The T7351 temper offers improved stress-corrosion cracking resistance.
According to the national standard GB/T3880.3-2006, the density of different
aluminum plates is different.
7075
aluminum plate density is 2.85t/m3;
6061
aluminum plate density is 2.7t/m3;
5052
aluminum plate density is 2.68t/m3.
